Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend  Next Entry
Wednesday evening, I saw "Weird Al" Yankovic perform live. Though I've been a fan of his for most of my life, this is the first time I've seen him live. The concert was in New Bedford (yes, apparently there's a New Bedford now), which was quite a hike to get to and back from. The people I went with bought the tickets back in June, so we got excellent seats - third row! Close enough that we got splashed!

These are the songs he performed, in order:
  • Polkarama!
  • Canadian Idiot
  • Close But No Cigar
  • Why Does This Always Happen To Me?
  • It's All About The Pentiums
  • You're Pitiful (During this one, he repeatedly removed clothing, revealing different clothing underneath. At the end, he was wearing a Spongebob T-shirt, a ballerina skirt, boxer shorts with hearts on them, and fishnet stockings.)
  • Wanna B Ur Lovr (During this one, he wandered out into the audience and interacted with various female audience members.)
  • A medley consisting of bits of the following:
    • Couch Potato
    • Do I Creep You Out
    • Some song I've never heard before, but which I'm guessing is titled "I'm In Love With The Skipper", during which he was dressed like Gilligan
    • Headline News (He only sang one verse, and it was one that wasn't in the original version. I'm guessing it was about a more recent news item, but unfortunately I was preoccupied with writing song titles down. So by the time I noticed that it was a new verse I had missed it, so I don't know what it was about.)
    • Confessions Part III
    • A Complicated Song
    • eBay
    • Bedrock Anthem
    • Ode To A Superhero
    • Pretty Fly For A Rabbi
    • Trapped In The Drive-thru
    • Gump
    • Eat It
  • I'll Sue Ya
  • The Saga Begins (This was accompanied by a full complement of storm troopers, plus Darth Vader and Boba Fett. But all they really did was stand in a line at the back of the stage, and sway and bob their heads slightly.)
  • Yoda
  • Smells Like Nirvana
  • Amish Paradise
  • White & Nerdy (He came out riding a Segway!)
  • Fat
And then for the encore, he did:
  • We All Have Cell Phones (an in-joke based on one of the Al-TV segments that was shown on the video screen during an earlier costume change)
  • Albuquerque (with an extended version of the donut shop sequence)

You, sir, are a geek.

And your icon is both awesome and terrifying.
